You can make a difference by cultivating stewardship and care for Southeast Louisiana!

-

Habitat loss is at Southeast Louisiana's front door. Our forests and wetlands are disappearing. Our land is eroding into the Gulf. Our seas are rising. Our storms are worsening. Meanwhile, our communities -- especially those experiencing historic and present injustices -- are fighting to meet their basic needs and recover from natural and economic disasters.

We face many of these issues globally. Yet communities in Southeast Louisiana -- like the Lower Ninth Ward, Grand Bayou Indian Village, or St. Bernard Parish -- are uniquely vulnerable. Here, climate change impacts are severe and immediate. Here, many Black, indigenous, and poor communities are unjustly devalued and exploited and therefore most susceptible to losing jobs, food, health, and housing in the face of a changing climate.

While these challenges are severe, they are not insurmountable. With your support and generosity, we can create environmental and human safety nets that will help people and communities thrive for generations. Donate today!

At Common Ground Relief, we envision a future in which all people actively engage in stewardship: the ongoing process of being in reciprocal relationships with each other and with our natural and constructed environments. Together, we can create a future in which land is created, and trees are planted faster than they are lost; all residents have their needs for food and housing met regardless of economic or natural disasters; and all coastal life has the means to thrive together for generations to come.

We must address the impacts of environmental and economic threats we face today. We must also build collective power for success tomorrow. We can do this by restoring habitats through revegetation with native trees and marsh grasses, cultivating growthful and educational relationships among diverse students and stakeholders, and equipping our community with groceries and supplies for disaster preparedness and response. Without this stewardship, we will not be able to build a future worth dreaming about.

Your gift will allow us to build on 17 years of grassroots work to mobilize volunteers for our coast and the communities that live here. Your gift will secure a viable and thriving future for our coast.

We are so grateful for your time, commitment, and support of Common Ground Relief’s work. Every blade of grass, every tree, and every supporter come together so that we can practice stewardship daily and prepare for the inevitable challenges and changes to come.
